What is Project 5-100 and what does it mean for international students?

In this section you will find projects of one-story frame houses for DIY construction from scratch to finishing. Our projects are adapted for independent construction by non-professionals, and to the dimensions of materials from the store!

When purchasing a frame house project from us, you receive not just a set of documents and complex drawings, you receive detailed step-by-step instructions on assembly and construction technology, as well as the installation of utilities (laying and connecting electrical, plumbing and ventilation).

To build according to our designs, you don’t have to be a builder, just be able to hold a hammer in your hands!

Results of the “5-100” program

21 Russian universities were selected to participate in the program in 2013–2015. For each of them, the project became a powerful impetus for development. According to experts, “5-100” made universities think about their place in the global market.

The number of foreign students and teachers has increased

As a result, the following changes occurred at the participating universities:

• the number of international projects has increased;
• the number of foreign teachers in the state has increased;
• Bilingual programs opened to attract more international students;
• the share of foreign students increased by 2.6 times per institution;
• Scientific research and development activity has increased.

Attracting foreign students and increasing the export of Russian education is one of the main goals not only of this program, but also of the entire development strategy for this area. In 2019\2020, the share of foreign students was 8% (315,000 people). This is almost double what it was 5 years ago.

Universities rose in industry rankings

None of the participating universities has yet entered the TOP 100 of international institutional rankings, but many of them have taken high positions in subject rankings. Thus, the number of positions in industry QS occupied by “5-100” participants increased more than 40 times: from 4 to 167 positions.

Subject and industry rankings, unlike institutional ones, show the position of a university not as a whole, but in narrow areas (physics, law, biology, etc.)

In 2021, 10 5-100 participants were ranked in the top 100 institutions in the QS subject rankings. For example, Tomsk Polytechnic University took 23rd place in the subject “Petroleum Engineering” , NUST “MISiS” took 42nd position in the field “Engineering in Mining and Mineral Extraction” , the Higher School of Economics took 45th place in the “Politics and International Relations” rating , and MIPT - 50th place in the subject “Physics and Astronomy” . Considering that in total there are more than 500 educational institutions on such lists, positions from 1 to 50 seem very prestigious.
