- Problem with mechanical ignition retarder. Its presence can be determined after dismantling the assembly and shaking it - normally you should hear the noise of the ball moving inside the moderator. Whistling
Strong or minor whistling can be heard from different places in the equipment. The cause is a pipe connection failure. First of all, it is necessary to accurately determine the location from which the whistle is coming.
The procedure is as follows:
- Close the gas pipe and open the hot water. If the whistling noise continues, inspect the water supply system. When using the column for a long time, limescale (scale) forms inside the pipe. Most often, this is the reason for the whistling. The diameter of the pipe decreases and water passes through with difficulty. To fix the problem, wash the heat exchanger with a special solution, folk remedies (citric acid, vinegar and soda) or replace the part.
The cause of whistling can often be scale
- If the whistle stops after opening the tap, this indicates that the problem is in the gas supply pipe. The flame control valve is probably broken. Reduce burning intensity. Turn the adjuster one way or the other. If the whistle decreases, the device needs to be cleaned.

Let's find out where the pipes are making noise
Now, as for the nature of the buzz. Heating pipes, like water pipes, can emit single or rhythmic sounds, something like tap dancing, rustling, gurgling, or even generally vibrate and even hum – periodically or constantly. The reasons can be completely different, they are even classified into groups. But now we will not consider absolutely all of them, but will focus only on impact noise effects.
Note: The likelihood of noise in pipes is sharply reduced if you use metal-plastic or plastic pipes instead of metal and copper. This is explained by the high sensitivity of steel pipes to low-frequency vibrations and high rigidity. Although their material is much stronger. It is recommended to use ball valves rather than screw valves as shut-off valves, which are controlled by turning the handle. These are heavy cast copper products, not Chinese-made products made from light alloy material.
Crackling

The principle of operation of the stabilizer

In the same way, this works in the opposite direction: when the voltage in the network deviates towards the lower threshold, the stabilizing device switches to the step-up winding of the autotransformer.
The process of switching the transformer windings is supervised by a special device - the stabilizer controller, and the switching is made through a set of power relays. It is these relays that, at the moment of connection, produce the very clicks that the user hears.

An even more common cause of boiler sounds is a problem bypass valve.
When purchasing a boiler with the tank itself, there is an accompanying combined device, which is designed to relieve excess (excessive) pressure in the tank and a check valve designed to prevent the outflow of water in the opposite direction. Over time, if the pressure in the boiler tank is constantly high, with frequent discharge of excess water, this valve begins to undermine. And it is recommended to replace it. Fortunately, it’s not difficult, any man with his hands can do it.
This valve is also responsible for equalizing pressure not only in the water heater, but also in pipes located below and above itself. For example, neighbors or you open a cold water tap, the pressure in the water supply drops and a certain amount of water passes through this valve with a sound from the water heater into the water supply.
In rare cases, the relief valve may make sounds when there is increased pressure in the cold water riser. The way to eliminate the problem is to install a pressure reducer on the apartment's water supply system.
Possible breakdowns of Baxi boilers
Repair work on baxi boilers should be done with your own hands only if there are visible and easily removable causes of the breakdown. If you have no experience in handling the units or do not have special tools, it is better to entrust boiler repairs to a competent technician.
Possible breakdowns:
- — the boiler burner does not turn on or goes out;
- — ignition becomes impossible;
- — popping sounds are heard in the combustion chamber;
- — the boiler overheats;
