The best underfloor heating convectors for 2021

The modern market is represented by a large number of different heating systems, which differ from each other in both technical characteristics and functionality. They are used for heating industrial facilities, as well as residential and administrative buildings. In addition, special energy-efficient heating devices are often used to heat a variety of public institutions.

Recently, heating systems such as in-floor convectors have become very popular. They involve the use of a hidden installation system. As a rule, they are installed near panoramic windows, doors, and glazing areas. It is worth noting that such devices can also be used to heat baths, swimming pools or saunas. The editors of the YaNashla website have prepared for your attention, taking into account reviews, advice, and recommendations of the majority of users, a rating of the best in-floor heating convectors as of 2021.

Device Description

An in-floor convector is a device that is capable of transferring about 90-95% of the generated heat flow to heated rooms using convention. There are two types of such units - with a natural convection system (not equipped with a special fan) and with a forced convection system (equipped with a fan). Compared to electric analogues, in-floor devices are characterized by higher reliability and durability. In addition, if you take into account operating costs, they are much more economical than electric-type products.

A modern water convector is equipped with a housing or channel, a special protective grille, and a heat exchanger made of copper pipes. Also, its design provides for the presence of heat exchange plates made of aluminum, special units that are necessary for connecting valves through which the air mass is removed.

It is worth noting that modern popular models are equipped with combined heaters and heat exchangers. Simply put, on such devices, aluminum plates are installed directly on the copper pipe, which are soldered using silver flux. In the manufacture of the channel, stainless or galvanized steel can be used (depending on the class of the product, as well as the manufacturer). All modern models of in-floor convectors can be connected to any type of supply pipe (different pipe materials and diameters are taken into account).

On a note! As a rule, a water convector is used to heat residential rooms, offices, as well as various industrial buildings that have a large glass area. Such devices are recommended for use in places with high humidity and the presence of accumulations of water sources (winter garden, greenhouse, swimming pool, sauna, etc.).

Main selection criteria

Which heater is better to buy, what to look for and what mistakes not to make when choosing? An underfloor convector is an excellent solution for heating rooms in a residential building. However, when selecting such a device, it is necessary to take into account several important nuances:

  1. The area of the heated room. When choosing such a device, you must first of all take into account the height of the ceilings, as well as the area of the heated building, regardless of whether it is residential or industrial. According to the official classification, the average power emitted by one convector per 10 square meters of heated area is 1000 W. For rooms with a damp environment, it is recommended to purchase units that are equipped with special drainage systems and are made of corrosion-resistant materials.
  2. Window dimensions. The built-in radiator, during its operation, actively creates a thermal curtain directly between the window and the free space in the room. Therefore, when selecting such a device, you must also take into account the size of the windows in the building. In addition, a correctly selected unit will not only heat the room in which it is installed, but will also prevent the glass on the windows from fogging up. It is believed that to ensure proper heating, the total length of such a device must cover at least ¾ of the width of the window.
  3. Screed depth. This parameter affects the heat transfer rate of the heating device. Therefore, the deeper the screed, the higher the level of heat transfer will be. It is worth noting that for installation in multi-storey buildings, you can use devices with a shallow level of depth and a good level of thermal performance.
  4. Indicator of the temperature of the coolant used. The recommended coolant temperature should be about 70 degrees Celsius. However, today there are models that are specially designed to work not only with a central heating system. As a rule, such devices are installed in power systems powered by solar energy and are fully compatible with condensing-type boilers, the coolant temperature in which sometimes reaches no more than 30 degrees Celsius.

In addition, when selecting a convector, you need to pay attention to the throughput indicators directly in the heating system itself. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the features and technical indicators of the materials from which the heat exchanger itself is made.

For example, heat exchangers that are made of copper have very smooth walls. Thanks to this, they have good throughput. It should be noted that most manufacturers equip their products with special control valves that allow the user to independently adjust the throughput level.

Which convector to choose, with or without a fan

The design of a built-in convector, which is not equipped with a fan, consists of a housing in which the heat exchanger is located. It is additionally equipped with a special decorative grille, which is made of metal or wood. Such devices perform their work thanks to the constant circulation of cold and warm air masses (natural convection).

Depending on the power level, such in-floor heaters are usually used as additional heating devices. In addition, such devices are often used to create thermal curtains near areas in the house where there are large glazing areas (windows, verandas, etc.).

Built-in models with a forced convection system are additionally equipped with powerful fans (tangential or radial). Fans are installed along the entire length of the heat exchanger. Thanks to their use, the circulation of air masses through the heat exchanger itself, which emits heat, increases. Therefore, such devices with forced convection provide uniform, and most importantly, fast heating even in rooms with a large area.

Models with forced convection have a high level of performance. During their manufacture, modern technologies are used that can significantly reduce the amount of electricity consumed for operation of the device, as well as the amount of coolant. Thanks to this, such devices are not only highly efficient, but also economical heaters.

Reference! There are radiators with forced convection that can work for both heating and cooling. They are equipped with a 2 or 4 pipe heat exchanger, one circuit for heating and the other for cooling.

Consumer Frequently Asked Questions

What distance should be between such a heater and the window? According to the recommendations of most manufacturers, the most optimal distance between such a built-in heater and a glazed surface should be about 15-25 cm. Of course, there are cases when the user cannot for a number of reasons, for example due to design decisions or small free space indoors, adhere to these installation parameters.

It is immediately worth noting that installing such a device from a glazed surface at a distance of less than 15 cm is not a gross violation of the safety rules for operating the device. However, in this case, the efficiency of the heating device is significantly reduced.

What is the difference between in-floor convectors and ordinary heating radiators? The main difference between such devices and conventional radiators is that they are installed under the floor, do not take up much space and are much more efficient. They also heat buildings with a large glass area (balconies, loggias, panoramic windows) much better. Simply put, an in-floor convector, unlike ordinary radiators, is a hidden device that has flexible settings, which in turn allows you to reduce the cost of heating the entire house.

Is it possible to install units with forced convection in the bedroom? Such heating devices can be installed in bedrooms. During their operation, fans do not create much noise and do not interfere with proper rest. In addition, most modern heating devices are equipped with an automatic control system, which itself turns the forced air conditioner on or off and regulates the fan speed.

Where can I buy it, how much does it cost? You can purchase such a heating device both in specialized stores and online stores by ordering it online. It should be noted that the catalogs of online stores present new items and the most popular models of such equipment that are in demand among consumers.

The effect of convection and preventing thermal locking

Special mention should be made of the effect of vertical heating and the creation of a lower thermal curtain. When installing devices in the ventilation zone, warm air rises, picking up cold masses coming from outside, mixing with them, due to which it does not accumulate under the ceiling. With such an organization of heating, there is no effect of a heat jam in high rooms, and heating is uniform throughout the entire volume. You should be careful with such a scheme, since with large volumes of incoming cold air during frosty periods, the heat exchanger can be defrosted.

Installation of forced floor and in-floor heating convectors requires correct pipe routing. They should be located so as not to attract attention and not become an unnecessary technical detail in a spacious interior.

Review of the best manufacturers of underfloor heating convectors

Which company's product is better to choose, what are the selection criteria? Products from popular European manufacturers occupy leading positions in the domestic market. However, it is worth noting that Russian-made devices are also in great demand among consumers. Today, some of the best manufacturers of trench convectors are:

  1. Jaga. A popular Belgian manufacturer whose heating devices have good power and performance indicators.
  2. Verano. It is a well-known Polish brand that is in demand among domestic consumers. Products manufactured under this brand are distinguished by good heat transfer and pressure indicators. However, as some users note, heating devices from this manufacturer make a little noise during operation.
  3. ISAN. It is one of the leaders in the heating systems market. The products of this manufacturer are very popular among both domestic and foreign consumers. The main advantage of products manufactured under this brand is a high level of energy saving, as well as the absence of strong noise during operation.
  4. Hitte. A popular Polish manufacturer that produces budget in-floor heating convectors. The products of this company are one of the cheapest in comparison with well-known European manufacturers. The only drawback of products produced under this brand is the consumption of a large amount of energy during operation.

Conclusion

Getting a spark, starting and maintaining a fire is not an easy task. But the flame was vital for our ancestors: it helped to keep warm, protect ourselves from wild animals, cook food, and illuminate the cave.

In the modern world, we have learned to do without fire in its original form. Central heating, electric light, gas stoves... But remember that summer day when you went camping with the whole family and sang songs around the fire in the evening. Or how, when you were a child, the lights were turned off, and you were reading a book while the candles danced. And food that is cooked over a fire takes on a special taste, smell and color.

Do you dream of letting a little fire into your daily life? Install a fireplace! Dancing flames, crackling logs and enveloping warmth can be felt even in a city apartment. Choose a RealFlame electric fireplace and fire will live in your home forever.

Cassette series - indistinguishable from living flame

Do you want to feel like you're near a real fire? The Cassette series fireplace perfectly combines performance and modern technology. The hearth can be used without a portal. But the manufacturer offers a stylish and minimalist frame - such a fireplace will fit perfectly into the interior of a modern apartment or office.

Characteristics

No heating option. The built-in ultrasonic evaporator provides humidification of the air in the room.

Peculiarities

The effect of live fire is created by the use of water vapor and flickering lighting. Maximum realism and 3D flame effect. You won't be able to tell it apart from real fire!

Additionally

Using the remote control, you can adjust the flame height or turn on the sound.

Basic requirements for the device housing

The appearance of the metal case does not play an important role, since it is located in the floor of the room. Particular attention should be paid to the quality of this element, since the reliability and durability of the heating unit depends on the indicator and its class is determined.

The metal from which the body is made plays an important role:

  1. For installation in damp rooms, a convector with a body made of stainless material with increased moisture resistance is suitable.
  2. For dry rooms, select a device with a body made of galvanized or black steel, which is coated with anti-corrosion paint, resistant to external influences.

Typically, special powder compositions are used to coat the metal body. They effectively protect metal from rust formation and external influences.

Designers recommend choosing convectors whose parts and inner walls of the housing are painted in a dark color. They are almost invisible, so they look more aesthetically pleasing

Novara series – traditions and advanced technologies

The Novara electric fireplace comes with an open hearth type. Internal metal walls serve for safety. They are decorated with brickwork to create the effect of a traditional fireplace. On our website you can purchase the model along with the original portal made of MDF, veneer and artificial stone.

A forced-type convector is used as a heat source. It heats the room evenly and efficiently. Maximum heating power is 1.8 kW. Three operating modes - without heating, minimum or maximum heating.

Peculiarities

3D flame projection provides the effect of live fire. For this, water vapor, halogen lamps and flickering lighting are used. There is a sound imitation of the crackling sound of burning wood. By the way, the built-in ultrasonic evaporator also provides additional humidification of the air in the room.

Additionally

For ease of control, a remote control is included with the fireplace. With its help, you can easily and quickly select the optimal mode and adjust the height and brightness of the flame. A thermostat is provided to maintain the temperature.

Additional heating

Specialists can also talk about additional heating. What is meant? -warm floors, warm walls, someone leaves some of the heating devices and wants to install a convector only to prevent fogging of the continuous glazing. Maybe the windows overlook a loggia or balcony, this also needs to be indicated.

If you decide to combine, for example, leave one battery or install a water or electric heated floor, then you need a less powerful convector, which will allow you to save on its cost and the complexity of laying communications.

Materials necessary for self-construction of a converter fireplace

When the owner of his own home prefers not to purchase the appliances necessary for home improvement, but to make them himself from scrap materials, then the items he produces perfectly match the thoughtful design of the room and work great. Convector ovens are no exception to this; after spending some time, you can build them yourself, you just need to stock up on the necessary materials in advance.

  • Sandwich pipes are needed to build a chimney for our fireplace. It is advisable to purchase a pipe with a diameter of 50-70 mm, with mineral wool as insulation. This will save money on additional chimney insulation.
  • (See also: Fireplace kits)

  • A metal sheet 2-5 mm thick will be needed to make the body of the structure.
  • Steel corner 40-50 mm, in order to make the frame of the fireplace. If you use a smaller material, then under the influence of temperature it can change its geometric dimensions.
  • A steel or copper thick-walled tube for making a fireplace burner and supplying gas to the firebox.
  • A low pressure reducer that will regulate the gas supply to the firebox.
  • Natural stone, which will be used to decorate the outside of the fireplace and line the firebox, to give the structure the proper appearance.

Yes, and you shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that the future owner of the fireplace must have a clear idea of what the finished structure will look like. Therefore, before you start selecting materials, you need to make a schematic image of the fireplace and indicate its approximate dimensions. In this case, there is no need to make fundamental complex calculations - the fireplace will work with forced ventilation and will have a small size.

Approximate calculation of convector parameters for specific premises

You should start with the power parameters, which will depend on the dimensions of the room. The figure of 110 watts of power per square meter is considered adequate and optimal in the design community. However, this parameter is taken with a margin typical for countries of the post-Soviet space - in Europe this indicator can be reduced by 20-30%.

You can then use the following calculations:

  • If the ceiling height is more than 2.7 meters, then it is necessary to add a factor of 1.05 to the power (Total power = number of squares x 110 W x 1.05);
  • If the room has two or more external walls, then add a coefficient of 1.2 (Total power = number of squares x 110 W x 1.05 x 1.2);
  • If the walls in the room are not insulated in any way, then add a coefficient of 1.1 (Total power = number of squares x 110 W x 1.05 x 1.2 x 1.1).

IMPORTANT! To make more accurate calculations, you can use a special online calculator, which is usually available on the websites of companies that produce convectors.

It will also take into account:

  • Dimensions of the panorama window itself;
  • Coolant material;
  • Set screed depth;
  • The throughput level of the heating system.

Firefield 25 S IR series - the warmth and comfort of a home

The Firefield 25 S IR series built-in electric fireplace helps create a pleasant and cozy atmosphere. The manufacturer offers four types of portals in light shades. Such a hearth will decorate, for example, the interior of a hotel. And a replica of burnt logs will give your guests the warmth of home.

Characteristics

It not only looks impressive, but also acts as an alternative heat source. The built-in infrared lamp in combination with a forced-type convector provides heating power of up to 1.5 kW. The heating level can be adjusted in 6 modes.

Peculiarities

Panoramic front glass helps to get full aesthetic pleasure. Multi-colored flames, additional lighting and LED lamps create maximum realism of the projection. As soon as you turn off the device, the firewood in the hearth extinguishes like real wood.

Additionally

Two control options: from the panel on the fireplace or from the remote control. It is possible to set the operating interval of the fireplace up to 9 hours. After the time has elapsed, it will turn off automatically. You can adjust the height and brightness of the flame. If you turn it down, you get a romantic and intimate atmosphere. The thermostat will help maintain the set temperature values.
