New design

Due to new edges, reduced screen bezels, battery capacity and some details, the iPhone 12 has become much smaller than the iPhone 11, while maintaining the same screen diagonal. It is 32 grams lighter. At first it is very unusual, but you get used to it quickly.
Smaller frame, stronger glass
The long-suffering display frames, for which only a lazy gadget writer did not criticize the phone, have become thinner. At the same time, the display size remained the same, but the screen resolution increased, and the matrix also changed from IPS to OLED. Now the “basic” iPhone is not inferior in image quality to the Pro version.

Both phones support P3 color gamut and also have True Tone, but the iPhone 12 added HDR support. Another advantage of the new iPhone is a higher brightness margin and a more contrasting screen.

The iPhone 12 also received a Ceramic Shield coating that protects the screen when the phone is dropped. According to Apple, it is four times stronger than old glass.

In turn, the iPhone 11 has last year’s top-end chip and in practice it is very difficult to feel the difference between them. Both phones are very fast, but the soul of the owner of the iPhone 12 will be warmed by the fact that the smartphone will receive the latest versions of iOS longer.
Both the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 have wireless charging, but the new iPhone supports 15-watt charging, while the old one only supports 7.5 watts.

Is a second floor needed?
Using relatively cheap space that does not require foundations on the second level is always very tempting. Is it worth doing? The answer will be individual in each case. Organizing a full-fledged second floor at the dacha will give an increase of the same square footage. It looks great at first glance.
But there are many pitfalls that can ruin your project.

Even if the cost of constructing a foundation for walls twice as heavy does not increase, other problems will arise.
The main problem is organizing a staircase to the second floor of the house. But neural networks help achieve better results: a night mode has appeared for both the ultra-wide-angle camera and the front one, and the third generation Smart HDR analyzes the scene and adjusts colors depending on the lighting.

If you take photos every day and like to tinker with photo processing, you should definitely get the iPhone 12. For all other cases, the iPhone 11 will be good.
The screen has become truly top-end
I had no complaints about the iPhone 11 display. The resolution is sufficient for comfortable use, color rendition is also excellent.
But the iPhone 12 screen is beyond praise. I used to be a proponent of IPS and always believed that it was better than OLED because it rendered more natural colors and did not overinflate contrast and saturation.
However, Apple managed to get OLED very right. Color reproduction is okay, but blacks are really impressive, especially in the evening with the dark theme turned on.
Also, thanks to OLED, engineers were able to reduce the bezels that sometimes infuriated me in the iPhone 11.
But I didn’t immediately notice the increased resolution. Maybe there is a difference in a direct comparison, but I no longer have an iPhone 11, so I won’t say so.
Minimalist kit
Apple has a new concept: along with the phones we get a minimal set of accessories; there is no longer a charger or headphones, just a cable. Moreover, both the new iPhone 12 and the old iPhone 11 are sold in such a minimal configuration. Therefore, if you suddenly come across the eleventh iPhone in a large box with a charger and headphones from old batches, consider yourself lucky.

Attic
Arrangement of a finished attic for temporary or permanent residence is somewhat more rational, although less attractive. You still have to do the staircase assembly. The attic allows you to significantly reduce its area due to deterioration in quality. You can make a larger angle of inclination and reduce the width and length of stair steps to a minimum.
